Congratulations to Linda and Saül, grantees of the 2024 Consolidación Investigadora program. - Featured

Funded by the National Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation, the main goal of the Consolidación Investigadora program is to strengthen researchers’ career paths. The program focuses on creating permanent positions within institutions, launching or consolidating research projects, and upgrading facilities, laboratories, and equipment. In the latest round, two IFIMAC members secured funding for the following projects:

Linda A. Zotti – Biomaterials for transient electronics: In this project, Linda´s team will carry out theoretical studies of the structural and electron transport properties of novel bio-inspired and bio-hybrid conducting wires. The projects aims at helping design materials for transient electronics, aligning with environmental sustainability goals and specific application needs in biomedical fields.

Saül Vélez Centoral – Orbitronics: a twist in electronics research: The use of the spin of the electrons is essential for the operation of modern electronic devices. However, these technologies require the use of critical elements whose extraction, production and purification are environmentally harmful. ORBITECTRON aims at making a twist to this paradigm by exploring the generation, diffusion and transfer of orbital angular momentum generated from current flow in light materials and how these can be used in future device applications as alternative to spin.
